1. The Magnetic Separation Method Principle
Because of magnetic field force, different matters produce different magnetic properties. The substances which can be magnetized can be attracted by the magnetic pole. The ones, which can not be magnetized or whose magnetization property is very weak, can not be attracted by the magnetic pole. Thus, the separation of materials can be done.
The iron and titanium materials like metallic iron, titanium, and magnetite, can be magnetized by magnetic pole forcefully. And pyrite can also be magnetized. However, the electrical ceramics materials, such as quartz, feldspar, kaolin, can not be magnetized. Therefore, if they are in the magnetic field together, they may be separated. Substantially, the magnetic equipment is a kind of equipment with the magnetic field.
2. The Magnetic Equipment Classification
⑴According to different magnetic field sources, the magnets can be divided into the fixed magnet and the electromagnet. In general, the magnetic field of the electromagnet is more strong.
⑵According to the technology of iron removal, there are two kinds of magnetic separation methods. They are the dry-type one and the wet-type one. The dry-type magnetic separation method is used to remove the scrap iron from gravels or dry powder while the wet-type method is used to remove the iron powder form slurry.
⑶By the structure of the equipment, there are several types of magnetic methods, such as the rotary drum magnetic separator, the roller magnetic separator, the suspension type one, the filtration type one, and so on.
